About this Election

This election takes place on Nov 4, 2008

One of the most hotly contested races in 2004, the Washington Governor race looks to be a rematch between Democrat Governor Christine Gregoire and Republican Dino Rossi. The 2004 election was an epic battle and the closest election in state history (Gregoire was elected by 133 votes). If 2008 looks anything like 2004 this should be one of the most interesting and again one of the tightest races.

Although he has not officially declared himself a candidate, Dino Rossi started a group called the Forward Washington Foundation, (a 501(c)(4) group) in 2007 to raise money for increasing awareness of the effects of business regulation. However, Democrats complained that it violated Washington's campaign finance laws calling it a de facto campaign organization and Rossi stepped down from it in September 2007. Despite that setback it is very likely he will be challenging Gov. Gregoire once again.

Candidates

		Chris Gregoire Governor Christine Gregoire won a closely contested race for Governor of Washington in 2004 that was finally resolved after a third vote count. She is up for reelection in 2008.
		Dino Rossi Real estate Dino Rossi served in the Washington State Senate from 1996 - 2004. He unsuccessfully ran for Governor of Washington in 2004.
