It should be noted that he recently dismantled Chris Mathews in a similar fashion when Mathews went on The Daily Show to promote his new book.

The awkward laugh is hard to listen to.  It is nice to see these dudes who are putting other people on the spot get a little of their own medicine.

I like Jon Stewart and the negative side of shows like Hardball and Crossfire, but sometimes the way he does it bothers me too. Something about that sad face he puts on when he talks about Tucker ruining America, etc. really irks me.

Dismantled Chris Matthews? I thought exactly the opposite. I guess it depends on perspective, but I thought Chris showed Jon to be a big whining baby. And he did it with a grin. I used to be a big fan of Stewart, and still think he's funny when he's not slamming people. Anyone think it was a coincidence that his big moment on Crossfire coincided with the release of his book "America"? He probably had no idea that that stunt would keep him in the news for weeks on end and help him sell thousands of books. Yes, I bought the book. Sucker? yeah maybe.

I’m a fan of Chris’. I do think he goes which ever way the wind blows. Perhaps that is his job. I think he held his own just fine.

Tucker Carlson

I like him some of the time. However, he often uses a tactic that I hate. When debating someone on an issue he often conflates issues to make his point or he veers the conversation in another direction to bolster his statements. This is a very common tactic on talk shows and “news” shows on TV… using an example of something completely unrelated to the topic to make a point. Anyway, that type of garbage drives me nuts.

yeah - matthews looked really uncomfortable -- john just has that quick wit that is unstoppable. -> probably why some people in this thread think he's the most powerful media personality.

Jon Stewart (and Stephen Colbert) both have this skill where they can- with words or even just a laugh- take control of an interview. It was quite obvious that Chris Matthews was feeling uncomfortable.

Wow, I had not seen that interview, Mathews looked really uncomfortable there, he was out of his element with Jon Stewart...
