Stewart or Colbert

Out of any newsmen out there, these two are my definite favorites. The question is, which one takes the top slot? What do you fellow fans think?

I peronally think that Stephen Colbert is the better of the two, but that's just me.

I haven't had a t.v. for years, so I haven't seen many episodes. But judging by a handful of episodes I have seen, Colbert has not impressed me. I've gotten bored watching his show several times. I did enjoyed him on the Daily Show, though. Stewart appears to be more knowledgeable and naturally funny.

I'm leaning toward Colbert. At least he doesn't blatantly make fun of the Right. Plus, most of his lines are pretty funny no matter which side you tend towards.

I think Stewart is the better of the two, just for the fact that he came before Colbert and in my opinion is much funnier than his counterpart. Even though he will take shots at the right it is nice to see such a small guy standing up for what he believes in. And before we get too critical on his humor just look at his composure and sense of humor while getting lashed on O'Reilly's show.

I've been watching Stewart and Colbert more often, and as much as I hate to flip-flop I find myself starting to tilt dangerously back towards the Jon Stewart side of the scale. Stephen Colbert is more POLITICALLY funny, but John Stewart is "funny" funny.

Stewart, Colbert is funny, but doesn't actually interview his guests, or have a real dialogue. His guests are there just to set up Colberts punchlines. There is nothing wrong with that, he is an entertainer, not a journalist. Neither one of these guys are "newsmen", but Stewart has a little more substance, and a little more back and forth with his guests. My favorite would be "Option C", Bill Maher.

Some of my favorite interviews happen when Bill Maher is the "interviwee" (or party that is interviewed)...lol

Stewart lost points from me when he interviewed Dick Cheney's wife several months ago. He was consistently trying slam her for her husband's policies and tried to pin her against him politically. She handled herself very well in the interview however and just showed that Jon was being overly hasty for no reason. Don't get me wrong, I hate Dick Cheney as much as the next guy, but the questions he asked were a bit unfair and he didn't recover well by using his humor.

I Tivo both shows each night but only seldom get around to watching them. Colbert is definitely more theatric, while Stewart does, as someone has mentioned, has a naturally funny appeal. I saw Stewart when he came to my campus last year to speak and it was a great performance. I do think, though, that Colbert has risen to the same stature as Stewart.

well, one thing's for sure. They're both thriving on this presidential election. With the length of the democratic nomination, the candidates, and the sometimes unfortunately humorous mistakes made by the network figures, they've both reached a new level of funny. Also, my favorite jon stewart moment has come from this year. check out this video: http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=156231&title=team-daily-polls

Stewart was masterful in his evisceration of the speeches of Hillary and McCain, on the night Obama clinched the nomination -- a night when Hillary should have conceded and McCain should have shut up and stayed home, if either had any manners.
