Are you serious? We have been dealing with all the Bull**** of Bush for the last eight years and now you want someone in the White House that wod't even give the proper respect to the flag. Barack Obama is nothing but a terrorist on the inside. If he becomes our next president, the people of Iraq will have a president, not us. THE IS MUSLIM!! I am not racist but I am American. If a presidential candidate cannot even extend the proper courtesy to our flag then he SHOULD NOT be our next president. Hillary Clinton has made her position known since long before Obama was in the picture and then all of a sudden everything he says sounds like an echo of Hillary, he nothing but a scam artist and our country is DOOMED if he is our next president.
To start with, I hate ignorance. This government is based on liberties, both private and public, if someone decides not to wear our flag as decoration that is their personal choice. If you don't like it don't vote for that candidate. Another thing, not all Islamic people are terrorists, not even to mention that Obama is not a Muslim. Generalizations, racisms and general hatred such as this should be kept out of forums such as this. And as a final comment people of the same party should not be attacking other party members in such away that give the general opponent ammo for the coming general election or that would cause moderates to flee. That is just cheap shot dirty boxing that should be left out of politics.

There is no greater sin to me then ignorance mixed with

stands for, or just wrapping yourself up in it? Deciding to wear a

So i am guessing you are alluding to the fact that his father was Muslim. A father that left him and his mother, a father that Barack and family consider more athiest then muslim. Obama is a member of an Illinois Christian church, not a mosque. However all this is strikingly irrelevant, Muslim faithful are not any more or less American then their Christian, or Jewish counterparts. This nation was born on religious freedom, and your prejudice are unwarrented to say the least. And you are not a racist, you are just prejudice. racism has to do with race.

Ouch those last two comments should cut pretty deep. Discrimination has brought up an interesting point though... when, if ever does anybody think that America will be ready for a non-Christian president? Or are we to scared of ideas that are not as similar as the mainstream. After all, we as a people find a lot of comfort in familiar places, people and ideas.

Millions of Americans DO NOT believe that smooth rhetoric written by Well-Paid Professional Speech Writers is necessarily The Most convincing argument that a person is best qualified to be the one of the most Important Leaders of the Free World and take issue with the fact that This Speech in particular was not even an Originally Crafted Response. It was meant as a defense for his very POWER of WORDS but was not even HIS OWN ARGUMENT.
I do not think the issue Camp Clinton raised here is the same as what most people consider as "plagiarism"... it is not in regard to copying a written speech WORD-for-WORD (as we are familiar with in college or high school), but rather the issue of the broader more traditional sense of the word PLAGIARISM: "to take and use as one's own the THOUGHTS, writings, or inventions of another" as defined by The Oxford English Dictionary or "stealing someone else's IDEAS and presenting them as your own" as defined by the # 1 result given by a Google search.

...and in defense of JZeitler and in response to HopeNation: it is not Prejudice that causes good people to feel serious "wariness" about and question Barack Obama's innermost feelings toward our country. It is AWARENESS of the world around us, most specifically, the Dangers of the World around us in our post 9/11 environment.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to look at the cold hard facts and deduce that there might be reason for some serious concern. Take for example the fact that Obama's "spiritual mentor" and "close confidant", his pastor Jeremiah Wright, honors the despicable LOUIS FARRAKHAN -who Wright says "tells the truth".
It isn't Prejudice that causes one to be alarmed by the fact that in violating a travel ban invoked by President Reagan, Farrakhan traveled to Libya, with Jeremiah Wright, to visit terrorist dictator Muammar Qadhafi and that Qadhafi said this about Farrakhan:
"Our confrontation with America was [previously] like a fight against a fortress from outside, and today [with the NOI alliance] we found a breach to enter into this fortress and confront it".
And it isn't Prejudice that it evokes alarm in normal decent American citizens at what Farrakhan, The Man HONORED BY OBAMA'S PASTOR AND CHURCH is quoted as saying in a Tehran paper in 1996, "God will destroy America by the hands of the Muslims. — God will not give Japan or Europe the honor of bringing down the United States; this is an honor God will bestow upon Muslims."
"A decree of death has been passed on America. The judgment of God has been rendered and she must be destroyed."

.....and, my preemptive response to the popular rebuttal of "well, that's Obama's pastor not Obama" or "Obama cannot be held responsible for the fact that his church chose to honor Louis Farrakhan"......is: Obama DOES have a CHOICE in where he CHOOSES to worship and observe spirituality. I personally give this decision CONSIDERABLE thought and look for a ministry that reflects my feelings toward the world around me. Where a person worships and the doctrine that is preached at that place speaks ENORMOUSLY to the essence of an individual.
When the attack machine comes at you, Obama shouldn't just stand up and take it by the chin. He'll get hurt when the "kitchen sink" gets thrown at him. Come on, Obama needs to take the gloves off and stop giving passive aggressive answers. The answer shouldn't be that i'm just ahead in delegates -- he needs to strike back and say Clinton voted for the war and then against it as a flip-flop politician. Obama needs to say President Clinton dead wrong on NAFTA and that Hillary too passive as her husband rammed NAFTA down everyone's throat. Obama needs to hit Senator Clinton that she failed on health care in 1994 and voters shouldn't trust one word from such a failure. Obama needs to hit Senator Clinton for being in bed with corporate lobbyists and that he is a grassroots fundraiser.
If Obama were as formitable and invisible as the press portrays, he would use all these arguments and close the deal on Clinton. John Kerry did it to John Edwards and Howard Dean. Bill Clinton did it to Paul Tsongas. Walter Mondale did it to Gary Hart. Michael Dukakis did it to Jesse Jackson and Al Gore.

I can't fault Hillary for going on the attack. She's losing, and in politics the losers attack. Nor can I entirely fault Obama for taking on the chin to this point -- he doesn't want to alienate a potential running mate and her (still large) reservoir of supporters.
However, robierap hilites the brutal choice Obama must now make: either let Hillary's attacks land unanswered, or spend political capital and (much more importantly) money counterattacking. The Democratic primary seems to have devolved into a prisoners' dilemma in which cooperation would yield the best results for the party and country, but conflict is the logical choice of the individual participants. Howard Dean has his work cut out for him.
Also, as an aside I want to specifically disagree with any of the commenters who have suggested that Obama's (quasi) Muslim background should affect his fitness for office. He may or may not be the best fit for the White House, but I reject the assertion that his decision (or that of his relatives/ancestors) to pray to Allah has anything to do with his qualifications. No followers of any particular diety have a monopoly on wisdom, competence, or goodness.
Hillary is just being selfish. The more she attacks Barack, the more she hurts her own party, nomatter who gets the nomination: if it's her, then she looks like a petulant, petty fool; if it's Barack, then she's just feeding the ammunition into the Republican artillery.
By the way, before posting something that you expect to be taken seriously, please learn to spell. ("wod't" is not a word.) Also, get the facts straight. Obama is NOT Muslim. Editorialize all you want--but editorialize on the actual facts, not on some make-believe ones.
