American Dream PAC is a Republican fund set up to financially support qualified minority candidates. It was established and is run by Rep. Henry Bonilla (R-TX).
In 2004, the Washington Post found that the American Dream PAC had raised $547,000 since 1999 but only $48,750, 8.9 percent, went to congressman Bonilla's political action committee. Most has gone to Republican Party organizations or causes, including a GOP redistricting effort in Texas, a legal defense fund for Tom DeLay (R-TX) and Bonilla's reelection campaign. The Post reported that most of the American Dream PAC money was spent on legal fees, fundraisers, airline tickets, hotels, catering services, consultants and salaries (Source: The Washington Post).
