The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Co., or BNSF, operates one of the largest freight railroads in the United States with over 24,000 miles of track across 27 states.
Background
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe is one of four remaining major railroads in the United States, and is a major mover of the intermodal containers that take most of the products from China and East Asia from West Coast ports to the Midwest and Eastern sea board. It owns and operates over 24,000 miles of track from Chicago to Los Angeles and Seattle to New Orleans. BNSF stock is publicly traded on the NYSE.
