Steve Beshear (D)
Governor
Steve Beshear (D) was elected Kentucky governor on November 6, 2007, defeating then incumbent Ernie Fletcher (R) by a 59 percent to 41 percent margin. Previously, Beshear served as lieutenant governor (1983-1987) and attorney general (1979-1983).
Daniel Mongiardo (D)
Lieutenant Governor
Daniel Mongiardo (D) was elected Kentucky Lt. Governor on November 6, 2007. In 2004, he nearly upset U.S. Senator Jim Bunning (R), losing by just one point. Mongiardo has served as state senator since 2000 and is a practicing physician in eastern KY.
Jack Conway (D)
Attorney General
Jack Conway (D) was elected Kentucky attorney general on November 6, 2007, defeating State Rep. Stan Lee (R) by more than 20 points. In 2002, he narrowly lost a bid to defeat then U.S. Rep. Anne Northup (R) in Kentucky's Third Congressional District.
Trey Grayson (R)
Secretary of State
Trey Grayson (R) was elected Kentucky Secretary of State in 2003 by a five-point margin over Russ Maple (D) and was re-elected on November 6, 2007 by a 14-point margin. Grayson is considered one of the rising young Republican stars in Kentucky.
Todd Hollenbach, IV (D)
State Treasurer
Todd Hollenbach IV was elected Kentucky State Treasurer on November 6, 2007. In 1977, Todd's father was narrowly defeated for re-election to local office in Louisville by a first-time candidate named Mitch McConnell (R).
Crit Luallen (D)
Auditor of Public Accounts
Crit Luallen was elected the Kentucky's in 2003 and re-elected by an 18-point margin in November, 2007. Previously, she had worked for a number of Kentucky governors. She turned down efforts by national Democrats to run for the US Senate next year.
Richie Farmer (R)
Commissioner of Agriculture
Richie Farmer (R) is the current Commissioner of Agriculture in Kentucky, having been elected in 2003 and re-elected in 2007. Farmer is best known as a member of the University of Kentucky basketball team from 1988 to 1992.
