EDIT THIS ONE
Ted Kennedy (D)
Senate Member
Ted Kennedy has been serving in the U.S. Senate for Massachusetts since 1962. He is the patriarch of the ill-fated Kennedy family and is more or less the leader of the Democratic Party.
Jeff Bingaman (D)
Senate Member
Once serving as Attorney General of New Mexico (1978-82), Bingaman is currently in his 5th term (since 1982) as Junior Senator from New Mexico. A representative of a major border state, he's been vocal on illegal immigration and possible solutions.
Amy Klobuchar (D)
Senate Member
Since being elected to the Junior Senate seat for Minnesota in 2006, Klobuchar has taken a typical Democratic approach to social and fiscal issues. Following the collapse of the Mississippi River Bridge in 2007, she pushed through a $250 million relief.
Bob Casey Jr. (D)
Senate Member
At the request of Senators Schumer and Reid, Casey ran, and won, the Senate seat for Pennsylvania in 2006. He is strictly pro-life yet falls in line with his party on issues such as the environment and immigration.
Jim Webb (D)
Senate Member
An author and former Secretary of the Navy under Reagan, Webb was elected to the Senate in 2007 for Virginia. A Marine in Vietnam, Webb has a rough side, reportedly wanting to "slug" the President after he asked how Webb's son, a Marine in Iraq, was doing.
Bob Bennett (R)
Senate Member
Prior to entering the Senate for Utah in 1993, the Republican Bennett served in the Army National Guard, was president of a public relations company, and was once thought to be the famous "Deep Throat" from the Watergate scandal.
Sam Brownback (R)
Senate Member
Sam Brownback has been a US Senator (R-KS) since 1996 and candidate for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination until 19 Oct 07. A self-proclaimed social conservative, Brownback holds staunchly far-right views on issues from immigration to evolution.
John Sununu (R)
Senate Member
Elected to the House in 1996 for New Hampshire's 1st, Sununu served there until 2003, when he moved to the Senate, where he currently sits. In 2007, he was the first Republican to call for the resignation of Attorney General Gonzales.
Jim DeMint (R)
Senate Member
Elected to the House for South Carolina's 4th (1999-2005), DeMint then ran successfully for the Senate in 2005. In 2007 he was ranked most conservative, insisting there are WMDs in Iraq, and that troop deaths are caused by Dems 'cut and run' talk.
Carolyn Bosher Maloney (D)
House Member
Carolyn Bosher Maloney is a New York Democrat serving in the United States House of Representatives for New York's 14th congressional district.
