Background

	Joseph Lieberman Chairman Lieberman, after losing the Democratic nomination for Senate in 2006, the first time since his entrance in 1989, became an Independent with close links to the Dems and Republicans. He ran aside Gore in 2000 in the failed presidential bid.
	John Cornyn (R) Ranking Member Once the Texas Attorney General (1998-2002) and considered as a replacement for the 2005 and 2006 U.S. Supreme Court seats, Cornyn currently represents Texas in the U.S. Senate. Serving since 2002, he's ranked as the 3rd most conservative Senator.
