Max Baucus - (D)
Chairman
The 10th longest serving Senator, Baucus has been representing Montana since 1978. He has been a voice of the moderate wing of the Democratic Party and is currently seeking re-election for 2008.
Johnny Isakson - (R)
Ranking Member
Prior to public office Isakson was president of Northside Realty (1979-2001), a time when it became the biggest independent real estate company in Georgia. Elected to the House for Georgia's 6th (1999-2005), he won a Senate bid in 2005.

Ben Cardin - (D)

In 1986 Cardin was elected to the House representing Maryland's 3rd District. Re-elected nine times to the House, he later won his Senate bid in 2006. He is pro-India and, unlike most Democrats, is against net neutrality.

Tom Carper - (D)

A Vietnam vet, Carper served in the House for Delaware (1983-93) and as Governor (1993-2001) before being elected to the Senate in 2001. As Vice-Chairmen of the moderate Democratic Leadership Council (DLC), he has garnered much bipartisan respect.

Hillary Clinton - (D)

Hillary Clinton is a junior Democratic Senator from New York. Married to former President Bill Clinton, she was First Lady from 1993 to 2001. She is currently seeking the Democratic nomination for President in 2008 and is considered the front-runner.

Bernie Sanders - (I)

The first self-described socialist to be elected to the Senate, Sanders began in Vermont's At Large District in the House (1991-2007) before winning election to the Senate in 2006. Though an Independent (Democratic Socialist), he caucuses with the Dems.

David Vitter - (R)

Representing Louisiana's 1st from 1999-2005, Vitter was elected as Junior Senator in 2005. In a 2001 Amendment to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Vitter required all federally funded schools to allow US military recruiting on campus.

George Voinovich - (R)

A rich career in politics, Voinovich served as Mayor of Cleveland (1980-89) and Governor of Ohio (1991-98) before entering the Senate for Ohio in 1999. Known to be overcome with emotion during important speeches, he has been cricized as disloyal to the GOP

John Warner - (R)

A WWII veteran and one time husband of Elizabeth Taylor, Warner served as Secretary of the Navy (1972-4) before being elected Senator from Virginia in 1979. He is pro-choice and pro-stem cell research, often puttting him at odds with the GOP.
