Desperation has set in for the McCain camp...MSNBC just reported on-air that John McCain (R) has just said that Friday's presidential debate be postponed so that he can go back to Washington to work on the financial crisis and that he intends to suspend his campaign.
This is so incredibly transparent. The race has spun away from him and he knows the timing is awful for him to be debating. No word yet from... (15 Comments) - (Posted By: Mark Nickolas)

At 3:15 pm (MT), I have 30 minutes reserved with Governor Brian Schweitzer (D-MT) for a one-on-one interview. My format will be 10 questions and I'll post the entire interview verbatim. If you have any question suggestions for Schweitzer, leave a comment to this post and I'll try to add it to the mix.
We'll have a president-elect by 930 EST on election night(We'll have a president-elect by 930 EST on election night Board)
On election night, we will learn who the winner is either at 830 Eastern, or at 930 Eastern.
At 7PM Eastern the polls close in Virginia. Ohio at 730, and then Florida and Pennsylvania at 8PM. With luck, the outcome in those states will be clear by 830. At that point Obama will probably have PA, VA, and either OH or FL (or both), and that’s pretty much the ball game.
If not, wait an hour. At 9PM polls close in CO, MN, NM,... (11 Posts) - (Started By: HelloDollyLlama)

Final comment from me on the speech...I think Georgia10 summed it up very well:
If there was any doubt left among voters, pundits, and politicos alike that John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin was based purely on politics, tonight's speech should lay to rest any notion that Republicans chose their candidate based on anything... (17 Comments) - (Posted By: Mark Nickolas)

Tonight's GOP debate marks the first such engagement for Fred Thompson, who has already raised millions of dollars and set himself up as a major presidential contender without having yet said a word to any of his opponents. Presumably, he'll keep it a bit cooler than he did back during his 1994 senate race:
2:10 AM...NBC and Fox have called Indiana for Obama and he remains ahead in North Carolina with all precincts reporting. Finally, Obama now trails McCain in Missouri by just 500 398 votes, so winning both of these states is now a real possibility. primaries, wtf(twisty7867's Blog)
While I understand why our politicians are disincented from changing the system, who in their right mind can believe this is a reasonable or logical way of choosing presidential candidates?
Every state should hold their primary on the same day(s). Otherwise, how can it possibly be fair?
We should also have a nationally-mandated election time, i.e. midnight-midnight EST applied across the whole country (9pm-9pm in CA). (0 Comments) - (Posted By: twisty7867)

A man who's reportedly armed with a bomb has taken over Hillary Clinton's New Hampshire campaign headquarters, where he's holding at least two hostages. According to reports, the suspect is asking to speak to Clinton, which is to say that the lives of the hostages may very well depend on the candidate's ability to pander to a questioner; they should be okay.

The House looks like it's about to vote down the bailout legislation by a 205 to 228 margin (current tally). Democrats voted for it by a 3-to-2 margin. Republicans voted against it by a 2-to-1 margin.

My two cents: Palin came in and certainly cleared the disastrously low bar she set for herself after her abysmal interviews. She was stronger in the first half than in the second half when it shifted to foreign policy.
