(Dutch), a Representative from Maryland; born in Baltimore, Md., on January 31, 1946; attended Baltimore City College, Baltimore, Md.; attended University of Maryland, College Park, Md.; J.D., University of Baltimore School of Law, Baltimore, Md., 1970; lawyer, private practice; assistant Maryland state’s attorney, 1972-1980; member, Baltimore, Md., city council, 1985-1994; delegate, Democrat National Convention, 1996 and 2000; Baltimore, Md., County Executive, 1994-2002; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Eighth and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2003-present).
