TIERNEY, John F., a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Salem, Essex County, Mass., September 18, 1951; graduated from Salem High School, Salem, Mass.; B.A., Salem State College, Salem, Mass., 1973; J.D., Suffolk University, Boston, Mass., 1976; member of the Salem, Mass., chamber of commerce, 1976-1996, serving as president, 1995; trustee, Salem State College, Salem, Mass., 1992-1997; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Fifth and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1997-present).
