Professional Positions

  • Prats began his career in politics as the Public Affairs and Federal Relations Advisor for the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
  • Puerto Rican Senate, at-large Senator, 2001-2005. Prats was the youngest at-large member that year in the PR Senate.
  • Prats ran for Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico in 2004 as the Popular Democratic Party's nominee. He lost to Luis Fortuño in a very close race.
  • State Chair of the Democratic Party in Puerto Rico, 2004-present.

Accomplishments

  • As an at-large senator in the PR Senate, Prats was responsible for legislation that sought to help low-income people, environmental statutes and transportation legislation, and was considered a consensus-builder.
