Sally Kurtz was elected to represent the Catoctin District on the Board of Supervisors in November 1999, and was re-elected to a second term in 2003.

Sally R. Kurtz's Biography

She is co-owner of Water Ways Nursery, a native perennial and water plant nursery located near Lovettsville.

She serves on the Board of Supervisors' Human Services, Public Safety and Transportation/Land Use Committees.

She represents Loudoun County on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments' Chesapeake Bay Policy Committee. She also represents the Board of Supervisors on the Loudoun County Agricultural District Advisory Committee, Joint Committee of the County of Loudoun and Town of Leesburg, Board of Supervisors/School Board Joint Committee and Annexation Area Development Policy Committee.

She has also served on the Loudoun County Rural Economic Development Task Force, Loudoun Valleys Horticulture Association, and with local PTA and scouting programs.

She graduated from the North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Winston Salem, N.C., attended University College in College Park, Md., Montgomery College in Rockville, Md., and earned a bachelor’s degree from Hood College in Frederick, Md. She was a head nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., and a special education teacher at Broad Run High School.

She has two adult children, Jennifer-Sarah Kurtz and Robert Quinn Kurtz.
