Scott K. York was elected as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in November 1999 after serving one term on the Board as the Sterling District Representative.
He was re-elected to a second term as Chairman in November 2003. As Chairman, he was instrumental in the passage of the county's revised Comprehensive Plan and Remapping/Zoning Ordinance amendments implementing "Smart Growth" in Loudoun County.
He serves on the Board of Supervisors' Economic Development, Human Services and Public Safety Committees. He also represents Loudoun County on the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) and serves as its treasurer.
Chairman York served on the Loudoun County Planning Commission from 1992 through 1995. On past Boards he has served as Land Use Committee Chairman and also Economic Development Committee Chairman.
Chairman York serves and has served in a variety of regional leadership positions. He has served as Chairman of the Virginia High-Growth Coalition, which he founded, and currently serves on the executive committee. He has also been Treasurer of the Northern Virginia Planning District Commission and Chaired the Northern Virginia Regional Commission. He currently serves on the Executive Committee for the VA Association of Counties (VACO).
He and his wife JoAnn have four children – Joshua, Elizabeth, Justin, and Laura. They live in Sterling. He is Executive Vice-President, Mid-Atlantic Region, for Servicestar Development Company.
