Steve Henry was a Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky from 1995 through 2003. He twice ran in statewide elections, finishing third in Democratic primaries for the United States Senate in 1998 and for Governor of Kentucky in 2007.

Henry has been under investigation by the Commonwealth of Kentucky since April 2007 for illegally using funds from a federal campaign account in his last unsuccessful race. The investigation is ongoing.
