While they some things in common, Dems have always supported loads of social programs, etc., which simply gives the government more opportunity to be involved in our daily lives and in our monetary business. The hallmark of Paul and other fiscal conservatives and Libertarians is that the citizens of the US should be more self-reliant, and the government is not here to take care of everyone. Read the Constitution. The government is much too involved in our affairs as it is, our personal liberties are on the verge of extinction.
I think what people really miss is that Paul stands for restoring the conditions of the Constitution and the greedy folks are the most concerned about this - they've done much to destroy the Constitution and what it means. We have gotten so far away from it as a society and have allowed the media to spoon feed us THEIR idea of the right candidates, it's no wonder each election merely replaced one crony with another. Perot had it right long ago when he said to vote your conscience. I'm saddened when I see my fellow Americans stilling carrying on pissing matches with the same old folks with the same old party line bull...and the media clapping along, feeding the public who they think we should vote for. Ever wonder why candidates like Paul and other independent thinkers are buried in the back pages of papers? Because they don't pander to the media, lobbyists, etc.
Paul stands for the Constitution and is the modern day Thomas Jefferson. I stand for him and all others that have the courage to take it upon themselves to become more informed than simply looking that the front page of the paper or Google News. Also, a candidate should meet at least most of your beliefs to earn your trust, doesn't need to be all of them, but most of them. Do your homework YOURSELF, look into all the candidates. I hope people will stop being sheep and start really digging in and looking for the real story.
