"Friends don't let friends play to empty rooms"
Accident . . . but since I got here, think I'll stick around. As someone famous once said, "we have nothing to fear but fear itself." I've been curious about this blogging business for awhile. But then again, there are really no accidents . . . .
Currently I am the Chairperson of the Dawson County Democratic Party in Texas out here in little 'ole Lamesa, Texas. About me, I have a B.S. from Texas Womans University, graduated Cum Laude and hold an M.A. from Angelo State University. I havehad lots of different work experiences from the Corporate world and the Real Estate Industry to Academia. I am currently retired. After attending the Democratic State convention last June, I thought about blogging a little. I've been a literary critic and publishing poet for several several years and also worked as an oil and business editor for a major West Texas newspaper during the last boom of the 80s, so writing is one of my FAV activities. Oh yes, a long and exciting career. During the sixties I was one of those activist hippies with a naive approach to change and believed that just standing up made it so. The sophistication of the 21st century is amazingly contrived and the spin unbelievably bold. It looks to me like if you are getting bested by your oponent, just turn it around and say his platform is really yours. I think the Beatle's said it well in their Political Satire of the 60s, The Yellow Submarine "I am you and you are me . . . . or elsewise "how many holes does it take to fill the Albert Hall (Congress) -- one is all you need if you have "a hole in me pocket."
I don't think McCain was thinking with his brains when he picked Sarah Palin. To tell you the truth, I'm a staunch democrat, but I get these e-mails from the McCain campaign because I try to look at everything from both sides. When I was teaching composition I always made my students write from the opposite viewpoint. It is impossible to overcome objections unless you can see the issue from the opposing position, and sometimes you even change your mind, anyway the campaign asked the reader to vote on a VP for him. I wrote in Sarah Palin, I knew just a little bit about her, very little. But I was impressed with a female governor in Alaska. I was totally shocked when they actually did pick her, (I'm sure it was on my recommendation) and I thought at the time it was a smooth move, but then we begain to see that she was politically and socially naive, which is charming in its own way, and though she may show some promise, I'm sure it is not in the arena where the players are highly evolved, she just seems primitive, which also has it's place, it's just that it's not what McCain hoped for, or thought he was getting.
Now think about it: that's what the consensus of public opinion was about Seward when he acquired Alaska, sheer folly. Will the future prove that this "at the time," folly is another mistaken certainty.

So sagewoman,
You're just like all the other libs...I don't support this, but I can't tell you what I do support. Let me see if I can help you out...
1) The murder of unborn children
2) Energy that comes from airing up your tires and maintaining your engine (since there is no new energy source on the current horizon)
3) Higher taxes so that ALL are dependant on the government
4) More government because history shows that the government is a well oiled business machine (NOT)
5) Socialized, government controlled healthcare...because Canada's, England's and Russia's are the gold standard (?)
6) Only women in office who "stand by their man", support the murder of unborn children, ride their "man's coattails"
7) A president who has absolutely, positively no voting record to speak of...but hey, it's history in the making and that's all that matters
Well, I think that covers it in a nutshell, but maybe you really do stand for something.
Hey there rdgarner, I'm not just like all the other libs. Let me see if I can help you out:
1. You are not an incubator for unborn children. You have not right to have a say, it is not your body. I worked at a state school for many years, I took care of many profoundly disabeled children whose parents just kept on having sick babies and sending them off to the school, I've seen the result of welfare babies and backroom abortions on young lives, Check out Genesis 6: it is the first breath that ignites the spark of life. Like striking a match man, that's when the spirit moves in.
2. Explain the thousands of windmills now generating energy along I20 and the Southern Corridor, specifically in my own sister's back yard.
3. If you are Christian then you should follow our savior's admonition, and the greatest of these is charity -- no one should prosper on the anguish of another's labor -- it is your charge to give alms to the poor, think of the bread and fish.
4. Well, I've got those stock certificates in my file cabinet right here, right now with worthless stamped on them, George Bush screwed my family before he ever got to the white house, he couldn't even run a baseball team, he was going to decrease the debt but has more than doubled it -- McCain, more of the same.
5. My friend is paying $207. for a Dr. visit, she is old and does not have medicare because she didn't work enough quarters -- no benefits -- wrong, she was a wife and raised four children and a substitute teacher, worked hard all her life, . . . .
6. McCain is the one riding a woman's coat tails, he is selling sex and cover girl image, his horns are showing,
7. McCain is a war monger, look at his voting record, he broke as a prisoner of war, he'll break as a President, when the going gets rough, McCain caves.
Most respectfully yours,
Sage
Newt Gringrich on Hannity and Colms tonight calls Sarah Palin's condescensious comments at the Democratic convention about Obama's Community Organizing efforts "cute." What's that about, have any male contenders comments been labeled as "cut." -- Sage
