And the difference from heterosexuals is?
I agree with Jimmy. I don't really understand why people are making such a big deal about this. Well, anyone not utterly consumed by prejudice...or their religion that has taught them that homosexuality is an 'abomination'. Any fair, logical, rational person can see that any two people (regardless of skin color, religion, nationality, social background, or gender) who choose to spend the rest of their lives together, should be able to do so. Right?
America was founded on the principles of being able to safely express yourself and your opinions without harsh tyranny or oppression. However, I am somewhat reminded of Animal Farm (George Orwell)- the oppressed rise up against their oppressor and then in turn begin oppressing their own. Slowly but surely, our government is steadily disregarding public opinion and disregarding the rights that all should have as American citizens to the extent of manipulating words written by our forefathers. If the draft is passed, that will only increase the chances of other rights to be limited or wiped out completely. I believe the government is gaining entirely to much power and some (a lot) of that power needs to go back to the citizens where it rightfully belongs. Now, it seems as if we are not able to make any choices for ourselves.
Is prostitution considered freedom of expression?
I think it can be seen as freedom of expression, in some cases. Many people enjoy expressing their sexuality. Regardless, I believe it should be legalized. Prostitution is going to happen...Let's just face facts and try to do as much as possible to protect the women (and men) employed in such a profession. I think that legalizing prostitution would stop (or at least curtail) a lot of the physical/emotional abuse and neglect that goes on in that line of work - not only by the pimps but also by the customers. Also, it is quite possible that by legalizing it, making it official with receipts and what not (in which there would be a record), people may be less inclined to want to hire them and the business would fade out. Or not. But in any case, for the safety for those in the business it still should be legalized.
