Relates to: Ron Paul, NBC

After this weeks debate on CNBC the network put up a poll on their website asking readers who they thought had won the debate. After garnering 75% of the vote CNBC quietly removed the poll from its site entirely. Since then the mail from Dr. Pauls supports has flooded the network inciting not one but two open letters from the network itself and one from a prominent pro Paul blog.

The first open letter came from Allen Wastler, CNBC.com managing editor, which almost seemed designed to bait the Paul supporters to scream louder. His main assertion being that since the results were so out of whack with what scientific polls show thats why they pulled the poll.

What Mr. Wastler either failed to realise or is blatently trying to ignore is that of course it's not scientific but it is an indicator of each candidates support base. Thats what Michael Nystrom, editor of DailyPaul.com, tried to explain to him in his open letter reply.

Finally John Harwood, CNBC's own commentator, also posted an open letter reply deriding his boss saying:

To the contrary, I believe the results we measured showing an impressive 75% naming Paul reflect the organization and motivation of Paul's adherents. This is precisely what unscientific surveys of this kind are created to measure. Another indication: the impressive $5-million raised by Paul's campaign in the third quarter of the year.

Sadly he didn't mention how the network jilted Dr. Paul on talk time at the debate.
