Well well well! Hubby and Dunk go to work tomorrow, they both put in a days work, and heck Gator will practice football tomorrow for at least 3 hours. Sconicle and I will work at home. Nancy Pelosi doesn’t have a thing to do tomorrow, nope she has five weeks of vacation in San Fran all just because she wants to. Wouldn’t it be great if when we got back from our three-day vacation my hard working men could have taken another 4 and ½ weeks? Wow we might have felt as if we were special, maybe entitled, perhaps we would have been a bit nicer. But heck no, we got no such luck. We live in the real world where you go to work 5 days a week, eat lunch on your time, take 15 minute breaks not 18 minute breaks. See this is why I am still steaming mad. We are not an unusual family. We are the majority of America. We work, pay our taxes and pray that our children will learn from our example.
It is with pride that I say my Congressman was there Friday night, in the dark trying with all his might to get something done. Congressman John Carter did what I expected him to do, his job as best he could. Pamibe has a link with John on it, John Culberson is doing his twitter as well. Matter of fact there were congressional representatives from all parts of America trying to work. For those of you that are wanting term limits let us remember there is one person holding AMERICA HOSTAGE WITH FOREIGN OIL, and her NAME is NANCY PELOSI. If any Democrat had any kahunas they would call her at home at 5:00 AM every day for five weeks. YEP WAKE HER UP, apparently NANCY thinks Sleeping for TWO DECADES on OIL is okay! Now just so you think I am making this up I am linking a San Francisco article. NANCY is PROUD of herself, and the planet, but apparently not the people of America. Yep anyone there is SanFran you wake up NANCY by car horns, by Rattles, by drums anything that will shake some sense into her. Why should she sleep when everyone else has to work? All we want is a vote, and she is too chicken to allow it.
Make some Noise SanFran, I would if she could hear me here! I don't know where she lives but I bet somebody does, and honking from a public street should be legal at least in Texas it would be.
Stumble It!
I don’t about anyone else but I am very angry tonight. As I go to bed with my gas at $3.85 close by, I wonder how much Nancy Pelosi pays for gas. How many cars does she own? How much energy does she waste? Owning a winery, I am sure she uses a fair share, but then again who knows. Nancy gave herself a few months off, she doesn’t seem to be worried about how to make a budget make it, Nancy has options!
Too bad the real backbone of this country doesn’t! Why couldn’t Nancy be the big communicator she claims to be and put an energy bill on the agenda? Let the Congress vote that is how Democracy works. You let the vote go, see that way those of us who drive old cars have a fighting chance of energy independence. The true measure of a person is how much they allow others to trust them, don’t count on it Nancy. I trust you no farther than I trust a crazy cow. I know that the majority of America has a low opinion of Congress. While many voters are thinking their Congressmen and Congresswomen are sitting on their hands, they are those that want to work. Uuuuhh Nancy ain’t one, she is a carefree rich woman that can fly to CA on a private plane. Problem is Nancy is holding the Congress agenda by her claws, because apparently she thinks she knows more than most voters and most of Congress.
You think I am going to let Harry Reid skate by. Oh Heck No, he is just as big a chicken as Nancy is, matter of fact I consider him a bigger chicken. He is a chicken hiding behind a chicken. He is relying on the fact that Nancy will hold her oh so liberal ways and keep the Congress doing absolutely NOTHING! So he can allow the Senate to do absolutely NOTHING! Anyone that thinks the sitting Republicans are the bad apples, take a look people this is what you get when you allow the Dems in control, absolutely NOTHING, NADA zip!
Come sometime after November Nancy and Harry will make excuses I am sure it is ALL BUSH’s FAULT, God knows every hurricane, every hangnail and every grasshopper is Bush’s doing. I am so glad Nancy and Harry have enough time to polish their image, and their stories cause the rest of the world has bills to pay. All I am asking is a vote, not a miracle people a vote on drilling in OUR LAND, OUR SHORE, OUR HOME SWEET HOME. This vote would be a start of independence, a beginning on not relying on idiotic dictators. No matter what lame excuse Harry and Nancy gives, they must trust dictators more than American voters, because they thumbed their noses and went home. I found an article that said some Republican congressional representative refused to leave the chambers, poor people that is all they can do. Sit in an empty room, wondering when or if reality will ever bite Nancy and Harry in the butt.
I am brave enough to want a vote, because I know voters make Congress and the Senate answer come November. Nancy doesn’t have to sweat it, Harry is footloose and fancy free.
Yep for all the whining and complaining, you liberals are really busy! Gosh, a hundred hours of work, that makes farm work seem so easy. Just think most of America works a full forty every week!
As I sit here in my little home I am reminded of all the blessings I have. Our house is humble, but very affordable. I have three dogs I adore as well as three kids. My husband and I have eeked out a nice life, it is not perfect and there are many things that would make it easier but I am happy to have what I have.
I have been a Republican, an Independent, a local Democrat(voting in local primary as a democrat) and a Republican. To me there is nothing better than the Republican Party. I have this Libertarian side too though, as well as a side that is very humbled by needs of the truly needy. I have read the Republican Platform more than a few times, I agree with the party most of the time. The times I don't I try to change it or accept it. Which is why the paid radio talk show hosts are driving me crazy.
See I don't get paid by anybody. We eek out our living by doing what we can to make ends meet. I don't own a fancy house, belong to a country club or drive a BMW. We raise our children on moral ethical principals that we believe at our core and no one pays us to tell them a word. People from my party call me and ask me for advise, and local candidates call me when they want to know how to win. See I am truly grassroots. I have met George W. Bush, I know my Congressman on a first name basis. I correspond with my favorite Senator. I tell my State Senator to be more Republican, and I talk to my State Congressman more than most people would even think is needed. They know me, and my family. They also know when the chips are down I will be there doing what is needed to get them elected.
I have never slept in the Lincoln bedroom, or been to the whitehouse or governor's mansion. I have been invited to several state inaugurations but I am too busy living my life to go to Austin much. Which is why Rush, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingram have irked me to no end. Who the heck are they to tell me who is conservative or not? Who are they telling any Republican to stay home or vote Democrat? Are they truly interested in a conservative lifestyle for everyone? Or are they trying to sell a new book, make more money or trying become the headlines each and every day?
Well it took me a while but I know the sad answer. They want to make more money, they don't care about me or my family. They could care less about what happens in a country that is run by a Democratic President, a Democrat run Congress and Senate. See they are NOT in the trenches, they can sit in a studio and say whatever they want to. As a local Republican I cannot. I have to maintain a local positive attitude about the Republican candidates. See when you believe in grassroots you do because you live the life. Not because it is the easy way, but because my natural core wants my kids' lives better than mine.
I am not sure when but before Huckabee even won one state, a person called me to ask about the presidential election. He was doing an absentee vote, and he wanted his vote to count the most. I told him what I thought. McCain would be the nominee. Not because I am clairvoyant, but because when you have been in grassroots long enough you get a true pulse on the voters. I am not saying I agree but I know. In 2004 I was doing support calling for George W. Bush in Ohio. I spoke to many independent voters, that were supposed to be undecided. Most of them had already early voted for Bush. I knew then he would win re-election. As I said my strength is understanding what motivates the majority. I wish I got Rush's salary, or had some of Rove's brain but I don't.
So my take is thus. Rush has spent too much time playing golf at the country club, and doesn't have a clue what a real Republican is hoping for. My first time at the Texas Republican Convention was an eye opener. No one talks about them but I will. There are Log Cabin Republicans, a gay group of wonderful guys that want more than anything else a real voice in Republican politics. We agree on almost everything except marriage. But I get why they are Republican. They are in business for themselves and want lower taxes. Then you have the plain clothed people, they stick to themselves and have an extremely simple life. Their kids are dressed very plainly and are always polite. They want to be Republicans because it keeps the Government at bay, so they can raise their kids in their own religion. Then there are the Harley people, they are dressed head to toe in leather and tattoos. They love Republicans, and they love to ride. After that there are teacher groups, families, couples involved in politics to be famous and included at "the places." See what nobody seems to know is the Republican Party is a big tent party, we all get along. We find our common ground and skip the stuff we don't agree on. The stuff we don't agree on is hotly debated, and then we vote. Whoever wins, wins. Period end of story.
That is really why I respect the party, Rush has no real place in the party I see daily. Sean is loved but he is so far away from my life he couldn't know my struggles. But my state congressman and my US congressman do, they know that I will tell them exactly what I want. I wont get it most of the time but I will say it. But then again I won't sleep in the Lincoln bedroom. I won't write a check of $100,000 or pay extra to go to some party to get close to people.
I am real, and my needs are real. I don't live in Palm Beach. I care about God, my family and everyone is last.
John McCain is the nominee, and we don't agree on a few things. I like his spunk, I respect him as a diplomat and a supporter of our troops. He is not nice at times, and honestly I could care less. Bush was nice and DC ate him alive, and watched with glee. If we as conservatives want any voice in DC we have to stand behind a man that is willing to do battle with the devil and call a spade a spade. McCain is that man. Bush was not from DC, and Romney has so many skeletons that I have found it scares me. Huckabee is a great man, and I truly believe Fairtax.org is our only way to get out of the tax burden, but Huckabee is not viable as a mainstream President. Rudy I thought at first would win, but then we found out too much dirt by way of Romney. Thompson just didn't try, his heart was not in serving that was clear. So it came down to McCain, Romney and Huckabee. McCain was going to take it and he has.
Romney is like Edwards to me, it is past time for him to get out but his ego is so big he wont. So now is the time to gather together, hold hands and sing kumbaya. Only problem is that won't have people listening to a radio show or buying books. See the reality of it is, the Democratic Party does one thing exactly right. They fight, and they make up in public. We fight and fight and fight. Then we wait for some to decide it is okay to be mad and stay home. Well I am here to say it is not. Men died for us, so that we could vote. Women have not had the right to vote for that long. My son will be 18 before November, am I supposed to tell him there is no hope his vote doesn't matter? No No NO!!!!!
Get your butt out there in your life, and live. Get out there and talk to your politician and your party. Get busy!!! Rush is not going to pay your fuel bills, your daycare, your healthcare or your college money. Let him stew, I am going to live and vote Republican. Because any Republican is better than Hillary Clinton or Obama. And that is what no paid person is going to say before they vote in the primary, but in the real world it is the truth.
Scott or Scotty to those familiar with him in the Texas GOP is a native Texan. He is the son of the infamous “one tough Grandma”. Grandma for those non-Texans is Carol Keeten Rylander Strayhorn. She went up against Rick Perry for Governor the last cycle. In the 1990s, Carol was well-respected hard working and had a tough no nonsense reputation. She called them as she saw them. Most of us in the Texas GOP respected her honesty and spunk. She said what many in the grassroots groups were thinking. Then she changed, slowly at first but before you knew it she was very different from the woman I met in 1998. She became bitter, and attack oriented. Some of what she said was true, but since she was at such a high pitch it was hard to understand which part she had “parsed”. There are rumors Perry asked Kinky to run for Governor to split the independent ticket. Carol could have been Governor if she had told Texans the truth. I know first hand what she told a grassroots group was absolute propaganda. I saw the pamphlets. I had been a delegate to the state convention. I knew it was fiction. Those easily lead believed her every word. It was for me truly disappointing. A woman I respected had become what I consider a two faced lying hypocrite. That my reader is what President Bush today must feel. Scotty has proved he is his mother’s son.
Rick Perry is not a good governor, matter of fact I think he is a terrible Republican. Strayhorn was right to contest him, she was correct when she pointed out his flaws, his love for taking land from our fellow Texans at any cost. The sad part is she could have won if she was honest, and told the voters exactly what she had seen first hand.
My biggest problem with Scott McClellan’s book is Scott thinking he knew information. He was not in the rooms when he says he thinks the conversations went on between Libby and Rove. Scott wishes he had the brain and the power Rove have. Rove for anyone that knows his work good or bad is brilliant. He could have told the President not to hire him but it is clear Rove supported McClellan. Scott inserts his own importance, frankly from a job not well done. Tony Snow was the perfect Whitehouse Press Secretary, and Scott paled at any effort. Yet President Bush being a loyal Texan gave Scott the wonderful opportunity of the job, and now President Bush knows Scotty is not a loyal Texan.
What most people that like and support President Bush know is that he is loyal and sincere. When he had a problem with Scott I am sure he told him, sadly Scott felt no need to do that same.
Nope much easier for Scott to sell a sleaze book than to fix a problem.
What I feel is missing in government is transparency. There are only a few ways for the common busy person to find out what is going on in D.C. The best way is to have a representative to tell you what is happening, many do not whether they are Republican or Democrat. That is why I was pleased that Congressman Jeb Hensarling let it out that some Senators got preferential mortgage loans from Countrywide. This is what most people of both sides want, honesty and equal treatment. After going to the convention, you hear a lot about the constitution but the reality is many in D.C. think the capital is their personal playground. It is the people’s house, just as the Texas Governor’s Mansion belongs to Texans.
If there are VIP mortgages of republicans so be it, let it out. Let the people know all that we do not. We already know no matter what program the Democrats offer our healthcare and retirement will never be as good as the politicians. The politicians took care of themselves decades ago, and they don’t turn down any benefits. I remember one 60 minutes expose that wanted wealthy retired people not use their social security. I would love to see a study of how many politicians do not accept their social security. You lead by example not by pointing your finger.
Hensarling is not my Congressman but I do know his parents quite well, every time I see them I tell them, what he does that I hear about is fantastic. If only all the Congress and Senate pushed for transparency.
I want to know the pork, and all. I want to know the dirty backroom details. I am sure it is not pretty on either side, but this family is living a hardworking living, and it past time for the big egos to get to real work.
Jeb today is probably catching heat from everyone except the voters. Thanks Jeb! You do your job well! No one else will tell you that, you work for the people not the others.
Update July 6, 2008
Here is a link for TexasDarlin she found what I had wondered about. We need full disclosure for all politicians. It is our only hope of knowing what the politics in DC really are.
Don't take my word for it. This is a video from Boston.com. This video is about Obama's home district. I love the last words from the resident.
Grassroots politics is what got Bush 43 elected. You may or may not know what it is but believe me without grassroots no candidate can make it far. Grassroots takes the state or national candidate to your local people. We are the backbone of the voting block. When the candidate is off message, the grassroots is the first ones to tell a candidate what is happening. We say what people that are paid don’t have the guts to. Many a politician that thought they would be fine without grassroots or ignored grassroots warnings has been defeated the next cycle.
For instance, my problems with Rick Perry are grassroots problems. I know what he ran on, he was the first Republican Ag Commissioner supported by the Farm Bureau. He ran on helping small business, he has not helped small business. Matter of fact many of his ideas of late hurt Texas small business. Small business farmers feel the tax pains first, the land rights first, the gas taxes first. You name it we are hit. As a rancher, he should know that, but if you ignore grassroots, re-election is not easy. Ann Richards moved away from her grassroots and George W. Bush beat her easily. You dance with the one that got you elected. Yes, you have to move to the center, but you still know you who got you a job. If not you are easily replaced. Every state and federal capital building belongs to the people not a special person. They are our buildings and we as voters choose who will go there to represent us. Life as a “has been” politician is a lonely job.
There is a humble lesson to be learned when you are no longer listening, and many in Texas feel like I do that Perry is not listening. It is a lucky year for him that McCain is the focus for the State Convention, but so far Perry is full speed ahead on the Trans Texas Corridor, it will doom many small towns left in our great state. It will divide family farms that have been farmed by the families for generations. Perry doesn’t care. Now the rural families don’t care about supporting Perry. He earned that mistrust honestly but so far he won’t take the truth. He has his head in the sand in hopes that McCain will get him a job in D.C.
God Bless Texas
