I wonder, has it occurred to anyone that the recent downturn in spending may be a positive sign? That perhaps in the long run if Americans stop spending and instead save and build wealth our country will end up stronger in the long run?
Would it not have been nice if our domestic banks could have weathered losses through the savings of our citizens and not through the cash wealth other nations have built up by cashing in our our inatiable spending appetite?
Would it not have been nice if the subprime market did not exist because Americans had a saving and wealth mentality and not a find the nearest sale and plastic item from Wal-mart mentality and could afford make the down payments necessary to create the short term home mortgages of just a short 40 years ago?
I wonder, what would our country be like if instead of a stimulus spending package our goverment instigated a saving and budget package for America?
I wonder....
