"We, the people..."
This site appears to be one my best chances at sharing my views with others who are similarly impassioned about what's happening in America and in the world.
I'm a middle aged white woman living on the east coast after having grown up in California. My views are a mix of liberal and conservative, so I call myself a moderate. My husband (Mike) and I have been married since 1982 and we're still happy together. I have one son and three lovely grandsons. I'm a two-time breast cancer survivor and -- in a completely different department of the medical world, I have a voice disorder which I developed when I was 36 years old. There are two versions of this disorder and if you know of anyone who has difficulty speaking, go to http://www.voicedoctor.net/media/audio/sd.html. On this site, you can listen to the two variations. (If you listen to Diane Rhem on NPR, she has the same disorder, except her version of it is the more common.) My background includes working in employment agencies, software companies, and advertising agencies. I retired several years ago, although I still dabble in design and copywriting. Over the last several years, my mind has shifted in the way I've noticed my elders shifted when I was younger: I want to do what I can to leave the world a better place for my grandbabies to grow up safe and sound. That's raised my interest in politics, world affairs, the environment, and so on. In many ways, these issues define who I am. When I'm not being serious, I enjoy playing online bridge (and I'm pretty good!).
