"Punk rock socialist trapped in a redneck body"
I joined Political Base due to the fact that the large majority of people that I know in my area are mindless conservatives. Not that all conservatives are mindless just that these are mostly narrow minded individuals who will only quote bible idealology.
Last night, my wife and I were talking about our state's contribution to this primary and what possible difference it could make to voters of our generation. First of all, without voicing the pros and cons of this long primary process, I think it served to make all those people who have felt like their vote and voice wasn't heard or did not matter feel as if they played a role in this process. My hope is that all of the people who are voting for the first time or volunteering for the first time will keep this momentum and fervor for the process continuing to future elections, both local and national.
Another thing that last night may have done is give people who live in South Dakota and Montana a feeling of importance in this huge process. When I have children and they come to voting age, if they ever ask "What's the point? My vote won't matter." I will be able to recall this year's primary and hopefully relate some sense of importance to them. I doubt candidates have spent as much time working Montana as they have this year. At the end of the day I believe this process has been important for getting Americans in every part of the country to the polls and we should all be excited and grateful for that.
