Wow. I'm kind of at a loss for words.
This year will be a monumental election for sure now.
First we have Hillary Clinton, who was the first woman to stand a chance to win a major party election. Now McCain selects Alaska Govenor Sarah Palin as his running mate. So, basically we're either going to have the first non-white President of the United States or we're going to have the first woman Vice-President.
Incredible. Amazing. I'm really excited now, no matter what the outcome is. This year will likely be a year that will be remembered as a huge step forward in our country.
Like Obama's choice, this definitely seems like a great move by McCain. He's defintitely trying to get the angered Hillary fans who are annoyed at Obama. I'll have to read more about Palin. Still, seems to be a great choice given some Hillary supporters have said they won't vote for Obama and were considering not voting at all.
Granted I'm definitely one who gets annoyed at the whole "vote the party line" thinking, but even still I do wonder if this selection by McCain will make people who normally vote Democratic to switch over and vote for him. This move make him at least seem like he's a candidate for women's issues, despite his history.
It's days like today that makes me like politics and at least for now makes me forget about all the things that makes me dislike politics (name calling, etc). Between Obama's speech last night and McCain's selection today it's almost like Hollywood is writing this script.
