Per The New Arguement as found on Digg:
"Casey Knowles, a High School Senior in Washington state, recently discovered she was one of the sleeping children in Clinton’s controversial “Children” ad appearing prior to the Texas primaries.Knowles, a supporter of Barack Obama was shocked that she had contributed to the national security message of a candidate that she passionately opposes.
When asked by The New Argument, this is what Knowles had to say about her appearance in Clinton’s ad:
“While I love Hillary, I would much rather hear Barack Obama’s voice at the other end of the phone at 3am. Its hilarious and ironic that the child in Hillary’s ad is now of voting age and not her supporter. I’ve been campaigning for Barack since October and was a caucus precinct captain. I’ve been a very avid advocate of his and recruited a lot of folks to caucus for him in January. He’s inspired and mobilized so many already, he’s refreshing and quite simply the best option for people who want to change this country.”
Gotta love stuff like this coming out. Not breaking news worthy, but nice little ha-ha fact for the Obama camp.
Yeah, it's made its rounds on the blogosphere plenty of times before now, but I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around how Hillary Clinton has dodged bullets on releasing her tax returns. Had she released them when it started popping up in the national media, fine, but that she refused to and still hasn't tells me there's something in there that could be interesting.
I found a Daily Dish reader's thoughts on the subject and think it's a simple hypothesis on her reasoning:
" I can think of several non-scandalous reasons the Clinton's don't want their tax return out:
1. Their gross income is obscene, in the eyes of their key demographic, lunch pail Democrats. Remember how the Kerrys were portrayed in the media as rich and out of touch despite his modest income as a Senator.
2. Their marginal tax rate was relatively low due to the use of creative tax shelters (e.g. Clinton Family Foundation).
and several scandalous:
1. Bill's income from foreigners in unfriendly nations (Kazakhstan, China, Saudi Arabia don't have sister cities with Scranton and Harrisburg);
2. Income from sweetheart stock deals;
3. Income from large contributors, raising stories of influence peddling, especially when the national press starts linking it to her earmarks."
This needs to be probed a lot more in coming weeks. I read on a few different sites that they planned to release them before Pennsylvania. Forgetting about Mississippi? I'm sure there are plenty of citizens from that state that'd like to see those returns before casting their vote next week.
