This one coment proves that the US Government is in the religion business, which the constitution forbids. Once again why should marriage by only the christian standard (and that's only half assed, or we would have legal plural marriages) be recognized?

Only morons insist on bringing drugs such as crack or meth into a legal drug conversation. These are no where near what anyone who is behind legalizing drugs is speaking of. It's a way to avoid, evade and try to cause hateful splits.

They are not standing military though and have no role overseas.

Many of the Moderates on here do swing a little left of center, but not all of them. There have been a few so called moderates which seem real Libertarian. A little more open on social issues, and a little more conservetive on business and economics.

Marriage was refered to on this thread as a Christian thing. Marriage has be practiced by every culture on the planet reguadless of religion or lack thereof. All pagan religions, even Wiccan, have marriage ceremonies. In Wiccan it's called Knot Tieing. Yes they will marry samesex couples if that's what they want, and they do take marriage very serious. Disolving a Wiccan marriage is not something taken lightly either, including slitting up of property and custody of any children involved. For the most part in our society when comparing the marriage of a Wiccan Couple to one of most Christian Couples these days, Wiccans win hands down. Another good thing is the fact that "Government is left out of Wiccan Marriages" or split ups. No courts involved, no fighting, no hatred. It would be nice if the rest of the world were that civilized.

You seem to be reaching for straws with some of that. There are many other senerios which can fill in the above train of thought. Should premiums go up because of mental problems, head aches and the such are constantly being paid for due to some fat woman or one scared of becoming fat uses artificial sweetener?

If the National Guard were at home where there should be and not off trying to do the job of the active military there would not be any reason for the troops jack speaks of.

shawn - another way to look at your line of thought is, I don't adhere to many things which the government does, as per your example, Should I be forced to support and pay for things that go against my beliefs? Fair question.

Lolly - you are missing the point. What I am talking about has been going on for years. I can see where this is a useless line of discussion. Apparently there are still those out there which believe the US nor her people are able to do anything wrong. By the way, that attitude is exactly why a large part of the people of the world hate us and would love to see us dry up and blow away.

Or the fact that there are other ways besides theirs in beating illness, or prevent it in the first place. Insurance, medicaid, and medicare sould also cover alternative (the true traditional medicine), including herbals. I have heard of a few policies which would cover these things.

As for accountability, they should be jailed just like anyone else for screwing someone up.

Personally, I would like to give it a try at running things. I would be willing to bet we could make some actual progress.

I'm not sure about others on here. But contrary to the thoughts of jefft, all of us don't do research to come down on christians. I was taught the Jewish belief by my Grandmother, as she was taught by her parents and so on. I was raised in a Southern Baptist Church as my father wanted. I am very well educated on the bible and it's teachings. It just isn't for me.

Our population as a whole also puts too much faith in the so called "traditional medical system". It's as large of a killer as the things they want to ban and do away with. Over 12,000 deaths per year due to unnecessary surgery, 7,000 deaths per year due to medical errors in hospitals, 20,000 deaths per year due to other errors in hospitals, 80,000 deaths per year due to infections from hospitas, 106,000 deaths per year due to negative effects of drugs. These are older figures from 2000, which made the US Healthcare System the third leading cause of Death in this country at the time. These are figures from the American Med. Ass., And they claim now that these figures are much worse and put the great US Healthcare System as the number 1 killer in the country. I would post the recent figures but the Medical Association has only made a verbal anouncement as of this time.

So go ahead all those who want to talk about how great our system is.

Yeah, their evil and vile. Give me a break. Sounds to me like what used to be done to people of my religion by supersticious morons. BURN THEM, BURN THEM. Even if I would have been inclined to vote for McCain (which I wasn't), the fact that he would like to put people of my religion back in the closet would have kept me from voting for him.
